Getting Back to Work Safely After Covid

A guest blog from Rebecca at RD Safety Solutions, helping you understand how to ensure your staff & customers feel, and are safe in the current climate.

Keeping Employees Safe upon Return to Work

Here at Lunar HR, our qualified HR advisors are working with many businesses at the moment that are looking to ensure that their employees can return to work safely and remain safe in their working environment. This is so important, not only from a physical health perspective, but also for their mental health, supporting any anxieties that they may have about returning to the work place.

With that in mind, we have Rebecca from RD Safety Solutions giving us her advice on how to implement and manage a safe return to work.

Opening up for business following Covid.

It can be a minefield trying to work out what controls you need to put in place following the lockdown due to the pandemic – what’s reasonable, what’s not enough, what’s over the top?

Having an independent Safety Professional complete your COVID-19 Risk Assessment can give you that reassurance that you have controlled the potential spread of this fatal virus, as best you can.

Risk Assessment

Your risk assessment should include not only your work activities but everything else in-between:

·      How staff get into work safely

·      The use of welfare facilities

·      Communal and rest areas

Common controls used are social distancing signage and floor markings, screens, hand sanitisers and increased cleaning regimes.

Your risk assessment should be shared with staff to ensure they understand your controls and their responsibilities.

After you have completed your risk assessment, you do have to monitor and manage the risk going forward so ensure you are documenting your cleaning, inspecting your workplace for compliance and keeping good stocks of PPE and cleaning materials.

Managing Contractors

Other aspects to think about are the management of contractors, visitors and customers? Are you protecting them against the risk of COVID?
